Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: How Much Will Roberto Luongo Play in Sochi? Roberto Luongo fought to get back into the conversation and be named to the Canadian Olympic Team in Sochi. Now that he's arrived, how will he fare?

Both Luongo's and Price's playoff collapses in the past scare me. Price was younger when his happened so I hope he's learned from it and will be better in a high pressure situation.

I trust Lou over price. Lou won gold and took the Canucks to game 7 in the finals price hasn't done anything comparable at this level.

Yep same here...Not a knock against Price but Lou has been there and experience big for a goaltender on a stage like this..

Lu does also has a better career playoff save percentage...but Price has been better this year so it's a tough call.

Yep that's where it gets tricky for Babcock I assume. Do you weigh more towards entire body of work or do you focus more on the present? Will be tough call I just believe louongo should get the first crack at the can so to speak.

Exactly my thinking. I think both goalies are great (I was on the bringlou train to TO) just for a short tournament not much time to adjust.

Which of the two has more experience on big ice though?

One other quick note to follow up on my Utica Comets news from yesterday (and yes, they really are in the Western Conference):

Sorry Carol, it just seems funny that a team in New York is in the Western Conference

As a Canada fan I want Lou to get the start and win a medal. As a Canucks fan, I want Lou to not even get the bench. Shatter his confidence, comes back to continue losing, asks for a trade to any team in the summer with the promise he wont retire till his contract is over. I want Sweden to win the gold with Edler having a monster tourney and comes back with all the confidence to a losing Canucks team then asks to be traded to his buddies in Det or Ottawa. rebuild and reset complete.

Tried to fix... must go back to liquor for fixes...

Not at all. I thought it was funny when you brought it up, but the way the teams are configured in this league, it's probably where they belong.

Toronto and Hamilton are also in the West as well and Utica is upstate -- not that much farther east than Buffalo. Rochester's the next town over, and they're in the West as well.

Even Charlotte's in the West. Now there's a stretch!

I'm fine with Luongo starting. He won it last time. Although I don't think it's fair to compare playoff success because the Canucks were a much better team with a much better defense core when Lou made the finals. Every time Price was in the playoffs was with a banged up defense which is very average when 100% healthy.

Comparing teams is one thing. Lou has been there and done that is my point, Price hasn't at this point.

Vancouver was banged up as well and for a lot of time their three best players weren't producing. The facts are Loungo was and has been there and price hasn't.

I think they'll split the first two starts but Babcock will go with Price. IMO both are good goaltenders, Price is better though! Lu has poor lateral movement, Price on the other hand has excellent lateral movement. With a bigger ice surface this will be extremely important for them to find their angles.

I disagree.I think one of Lou best attributes is how strong he is side to side and his controlled movements not saying price isn't just stating that I think Lou is pretty equal.

Agree with the splitting just think it will be reverse after.

People tend to forget the wrong and only remember the good.

Luongo sucked in the last olympic, he made some flashy saves but allowed 1-2 fluke goal every game.

Same for Crosby, he did absolutely nothing the whole tournament except score the OT winning goal for the gold medal (which is incredible, but he still performed bad and people who knew nothing about hockey all praised him).

Luongo should get the start because of the experience, not because he had good 2010 olympics.
